Mr. Montgomery Gibbs,
Edgewater, Ill.

Dear Sir:

Replying to your letter of May 9, Mr. Church’s painting entitled “Knowledge is Power” has been reproduced several times, but I regret to say I cannot inform you where a copy of any of the reproductions can now be obtained. The most satisfactory copy made was the large photograph by Kurtz of New York, of which 50 were printed and sold at $10.00 each for a local charity. The edition was quickly exhausted and no more can be purchased at present. A New York charity has asked to have 50 additional copies of the Kurtz photograph made for their benefit, and it is not improbable that [[?]]be done next winter. If it is, I shall be pleased to correspond with you and see that you have the opportunity to subscribe, if you then care to do so.

Regretting that I cannot put you in the way to anticipate, your [[?]]I remain,

Yours very truly,
Charles L. Freer
