Mr. Wm. MacBeth,
237 Fifth Ave., New York.

Dear Mr. MacBeth:

I inclose herein order on Mr. Thos. B. Clarke for a small painting by Inness now in Mr. Clarke’s possession, owned by me. Will you kindly send for the picture and place it on sale. I gave $90.00 for the painting and am entirely willing to have you sell it at that price or at as much more as you can get for it, charging me your usual percentage for effecting the sale. I consider the canvas an interesting specimen of his early work. Of course it is not great but is finer than many that have lately been sold at prices ranging from $200.00 to 500.00. I am determined to rid myself of this picture for various reasons, which I will explain to you when next we meet.

Within a few days I may write you in reference to a very important Inness, particularly if you have a customer who wants the most remarkable painting produced by Inness in the last five years.

Yours very truly,
C.L. Freer
