NOTICE
FIRST. To guard against errors, every despatch should be telegraphed back to the Station from which it is sent. For such repetition, one half the regular price will be charged.
SECOND. The Superintendent of the Company will, if required, enter into a special contract in writing, to insure against errors and delays in the transmission and delivery of messages. Such contract must be made at the sending of the message, the consideration paid, and the amount of risk specified. No other person is authorized to make a contract of Insurance.
The conditions upon which this Company sends messages are as follows, viz.: That it shall not be held liable for any mistakes or delays in unrepeated messages, from whatever cause they may arise, nor for any mistakes or delays in unrepeated messages, from whatever cause they may arise, nor for any mistakes or delays in the transmission or delivery of repeated messages, paid for as above mentioned, beyond an amount exceeding five hundred times the sum so paid. Nor shall they be held liable under any circumstances for errors in cipher or obscure messages, or for interruptions in the workings of their lines, nor for any mistakes or delays of any other Company, over whose lines any message may be sent to reach its destination.
