Pinchem vs. Barnes

Summary of the Evidence
April 1865, during the march of Genl Sheridans troops throu' Mecklenburg Co. Va they visited the plantation of Deft. he being then absent, took therefrom three mules (two of said mules since ret'd to Deft.) and gave to Ned Pinchem, Pltiff the horse in question, soon thereafter Pltiff took the horse to Charlotte Co returning in three days. Deft. states to Pltiff that he Deft. would take said horse for his buggies and when remonstrated with by Pltiff, cursed &c Pltiff. Samesong the overseer whipped & beat Pltiff for claiming the horse.  

The horse is & was known [[strikethrough]] of [[/strikethrough]] on Plantation of said Deft as "Ned's Horse"— Pltiff of his own volition cured the horses back and the horse was put to work within a few days after abandonment and retained
