In compliance with orders from Hd. Qrs. Asst. Comr State of Va dated Richmond Va June 5th 1866 I have the honor to transmit herewith report of the case of Embrer & others v.s. John Clarke for wages. 

On the 26th of March Inst. complaint was made at this office by Embrer & others against Mr. John Clarke of this County formerly their owner for wages due them for the month of May 1865. Mr. Clarke at the time the case was enterd against him was liveing in Richmond Va It being Court day here he was present and I notified him in person to appear on the following day before the Freedmens Court of this County, that the case might be decided, he declined to appear in person assigning as a reason the necessity of his return to Richmond, but left the matter in the hands of his agent Mr. Calvin Hudson. The case was heard the entire court being present, and it was clearly proven to the entire satisfaction of
