Sir:
Yours of today is rec'd, & contents noted & in reply beg leave to state, that after I communicate with Maj Gen'l A.H. Terry & find it expedient to visit Richmond & if transportation is furnished me & I am paid for my time while I neglect my business & there is funds furnished me to leave with my family for their support during my absence I will then inform you what my action will be in the premises.

Please answer if you think it necessary. If I can aid our Beneficent Govt in any honorable way at any time I shall be most happy to do so.
