The ladies who have charge of the Orphan Asylum for. Cold children at Richmond have desired me to write on their behalf -

They find the Concern is becoming too large and too expensive for them to manage unless the Government will furnish more assistance - The item of bread alone is now costing them about Sixty dollars a week - This we think the Government will furnish in the rations if they send in so many children - Then again the accommodations are not adapted for so large a number.

If these orphans are sent north we think the Government should furnish transportation to
