An inquest was held upon the body by some of the neighbours, but no Physician was present on omission (which seems) somewhat singular. 

Quisenberry was arrested by the Civil authority and released upon twenty five hundred dollars Bail - the County Court which convened immediately afterward sent him on for trial at the next circuit court and released him upon nine hundred dollars Bail - 

Genl. Voris at that time commanded the U. S. Troops in this neighbourhood, I have been informed by a gentleman here of loyal sentiment that Genl Voris upon being remonstrated with by him as to the propriety of allowing the Civil authorities to take cognizance of the case replied "that he only wanted to see what they would do in such a case, that he only wanted to try them."
  
The trial before the Circuit Court beginning yesterday has just come to an End. In conformity with Cir. No 10. Hd Qrs B.R.F. & A.L. Richmond Va. I thought it my duty to attend it although several of the Lawyers endeavored to convince me that it was none of my Business. The Trial as far as the form of it was concerned appeared perfectly fair, the jury after an absence of about 2 minutes, brought in a Verdict of "Not Guilty."
