Dear Sir
Upon enquiry I don't know whether I would be justifiable in paying you the hire of the girl Jane or not  I have been informed that the Contract would not be legal without She had a copy and She Said you did not give her a copy - at least She has nothing binding against you and without such a contract in her hand, the whole thing is null and viad  So far as having any Claim on her or her on you  So if you want the matter Settled you must bring your Contract over and proceed at once to have it settled beyond question  So I may know who to pay you must bring an action against her in Court before I will pay you or her eathr  I dont intend to pay her hire twice her mother horly my Contract for her Services. and will not under the circumstances, deliver it to me and if I pay you before it is settled in the Freedmen Court I will have her mother to pay also:

My wife also sais she is not willing to keep Jane on your terms not knowing what sort of contract you hold; it may not provide for a Sufficient amt of clothing to
