Bureau Refugees Freedmen & Aban'd Land,
Office Asst. Supt. Queen Anne Co, Va
January 31st, 1866

Capt. A.S. Flagg A.Q.M.
Superintendent 1st Dist. Va.

Captain
In obedience to Circular Order Bureau R.F. & A.L. office chief Med. Off. Bureau Va. Richmond Jan 14, 1866, calling for "report of the condition of Freedmen in the several Sub. Districts as regards Medical Care and comfort when sick &c" I have the honor to report that in this county the health of Freedmen, as a mass, is very good, and although there is as yet no Hospital building or resident medical officer no cases of suffering from such want have as yet come to my notice.

Provision for Hospital buildings to be erected on the Poor (Wise) farm being made by your Special Order No 4 Jan 27, I am of opinion that in the absence of epidemic disease there is and will be no necessity for a resident medical officer in this county but a weekly visit at the Poor farm, on a fixed day, as supply of simple medicine (for children especially) in charge of the Asst. Supt, and permission to send surgical or other extreme cases to Norfolk would
