OFFICE SUP'T R. F. &. A. L.
1st. DIST. OF VIRGINIA.
Norfolk, Va., March 10th 1866.

Colonel:-

Your communication in regard to Supplementary Rolls. You ask when I sent them and if I have a copy? I reply that I sent them some time in the month of December but the exact date I cannot give; I have no copy, but you have a retained copy of them made to me soon after I had made my Jan Returns. Mr Johnston remembers them. if you were not in the custom of making No 8s when you sent in your Returns of men discharged without pay you had better let the matter pass as lightly as possible. I do not know. You can see by comparing the Supplementary Roll referred to with your Returned Copy of the month when discharged if not returned my advice is to let them drop and say no more about them.
