In reply to your communication of 27th April, I bet leave to state, that Mr. John S. Tucker, Notary Public, to-day files his copy of commission herewith, for transmission to the Paymaster General. Mr. Westwood A. Todd is associated with him, and in his absence signs papers. Will this be proper?

Can ou state the present whereabouts of Lt. Mc Candle, who employed men to work on fortification at Suffolk? Men are coming in every day, who claim six months pay for labor under him. They were promised ten dollars per month and rations, but have never received it, or anything.
