Genl Terry

Sir

I wish to draw your attention to an occurrence that has happened in our Little Town of Brentsville, in the last few days. A coloured woman, with four children, was moved here by the U.S. Troops last spring. This woman after a bout sickness died on the 27th of Jan'ry. During her sickness, I applied to Lieut Hopkins, (who is in charge of the Coloured) for her relief as she was in a suffering condition.

What made her case worse the Lieut has neglected to draw rations for her ever since he has held the post here, upwards of two months, I supplied her with some wood, and many comforts, I also sent my hired woman to nurse her until she died, and the Dr. who boards with me attended on her night
