Office of Asst. Supt. Sub. Dist Va
Harrisonburg Va May 5th 1866

Brevet Major W.S. How
Superintendent

Sir:

Yesterday eve I heard that some little boys had been parading the street with a small Confederate flag

Today the same was done some of the boys about 14 or 15 years of age, they stopped in front of my office and yelled I was not in - but I went and told the Mayor of the town shortly after that he must stop the flag business or I would - he did stop it.

Is it worth while to bother with such things? I intefered as the proceedings seemed to please people. It is astonishing what an effect it had -

I should like some more stationary sent down.

Respectfully
Geo. T. Cook
Lt & A Supt
