Personally appeared before me this day Joseph Reed Col, who upon Oath made the following statement,
On Friday last the 11th I was sent from the office of the Exchange Hotel (where I was employed) to bring down some luggage from upstairs, which I deposited in the office. Although a Col'd man the floor sent carried the luggage out to the Court at the door, I told him he had no right to do so, he turned away to go up the Hotel steps and made some remark which I did not distinctly hear. I went and caught hold of his arm, and asked him what he said, he made no reply until he got nearly to the door of the office, he then called me a damned Yellow Son of a Bitch.
