The undersigned Job A Talmage now of The County of Morris and State of New Jersey but for some years prior to September 30, 1864 a Resident of the County of Dinwiddle and State of Virginia would state respectfully to Capt. S. Barnes of the Freedmen Bureau of the 2nd District of Virginia that he is the owner of a Tract of Land in Dinwiddie County Virginia containing Two Hundred and sixteen and three-quarter acres (216 3/4) that the said Land is now in the occupancy of certain persons some of whom are Freedmen; that they are in possession of his Land without his Consent that he is desirous of getting possession of the said Tract of Land in order that it may be rented out; that he left his home on the 30th day of September 1864 during a battle fought on that day between the Union and Rebel forces and sought
