safety with his family for a few days within the Union lines; that he returned here on the 3rd day of October and was informed by Genl Warren and Ayres that Military necessity required that his premises should be occupied by the Union Army and was advised by them to go North with his family; that being furnished with the means he did go North when he now is in the County of Morris in the State of New Jersey.  The undersigned herewith filed a copy of a Deed for his land which is duly recorded in the County Court of Dinwiddie County Va.  he also files herewith a Copy of President Johnson "Amnesty taken by your Petitioner on the 19th day of the present Month before Samuel S. Halsey Esq. a Notary Public for the State of New Jersey.
   The undersigned would and does Earnestly request that an order may be at once
