15 (14) Nov. 20/96. Mr. Glaenser. Boussod, Valadon & Co. 302 Fifth Ave., New York. Dear Sir: Your letter of Nov. 16 was duly received and I wired you this morning, "Your letter Nov. 16. Am familiar with the Whistler. Wire your lowest cash price, and I will then advise whether or not to send it an approval", and have received your reply reading, "Fifty five hundred dollars", and thank you for same. I remember this picture very well and saw it last time some two years ago in Paris. It is as you say a work of fine quality, but I think the period considerably later than that of the "Girl in White" which you had last year and which latter one of the two I would greatly prefer to possess. There is some risk in sending a picture this far and as I expect to be in New York next week, I believe on second thought, that it would be much wiser for me to see it there, come [[?]]. I shall take pleasure in calling upon you the next time I am in your city. In the mean time thanking you for your [[?]], I remain, Yours very truly, Charles L Freer
