April 8/97.

Mr. Frederick S. Kelsey,
186 Broadway, New York.

Dear Sir:

Will you kindly send by express to Mr. Bunkio Matsuki, 12 Laurel St., Salem, Mass., two Salisburin trees of the best you have in stock for transplanting. Kindly prepay the express charges and send me invoice covering same together with price of the trees.
Mr. Matsuki is a Japanese friend of mine and the "Gingko" is a favorite tree with him, and I am making him a little gift. I would like to have you send as perfect specimens as you possibly can.

Yours truly,
Charles L Freer

P.S. I think you will understand from the Latin name the tree I refer to. It is of Japanese origin, has genuinely interesting strong branches, and the leaf is the shape and [[?]] in color.
