June 25/97.

My dear Mrs. Russel:

Your recent letter was delayed in reaching me because of my absence from the city and since my return an unusual accumulation of affairs has prevented earlier reply. To-day I am suddenly called out of town to be absent ten days and at the last moment I am compelled to send you a type-written letter.
The work of the "Holland House" appeals to me and I am pleased to inclose herewith my check for $15.00 to aid the cause. I regret that very many calls being made this summer prevent me from making a larger donation.

With personal regards, I remain,
Yours very truly,
Charles L. Freer

Mrs. Ellen Welles Russel,
1300 Woodward Ave.,
City.
