ginning to end and he has asked until Tuesday next to give his final decision. Inasmuch as tomorrow and Monday will be holidays in New York, little can be done before Tuesday. We could not sell the bonds, and I doubt if he can accomplish much. Still, we thought it wiser to give him a few days' additional grace, and he is to meet with us again on Tuesday afternoon next. I will let you know the result of the interview after the meeting.

Pack has decided to pay the Hecker & Freer loan. The money will reach us on the 5th or 6th inst. A dividend of 1% was received this morning from the American Radiator Co. Shop matters are moving along about as usual. We are obtaining better prices on some of the B.& O. material than I expected. Siding however we find extremely scrace [[scarce]] and very high. I expect Mr. Greene here next Monday morning, and am going to try for the substitution of Oregon lumber for such cars as we had expected to sheathe with white pine.

The weather here pretty hot today but a comfortable breeze is blowing. Hope you find the weather comfortable where you are.

Mr. Ives telegraphed me night before last asking for your address as he wished to send a personal letter. I told him to send in care of the War Dept. -- Inclosed find some newspaper clippings.

Albert Pack has announced himself as a candidate for U.S. Senator to succeed Burrows.
