Dec. 26/96.

Messrs. Yamanaka & Co.,
20 West 27th St., New York.

Gentlemen:

I have your letter of Dec. 22 and am much obliged to you for having sent with each of the articles a short written description. So far as translations of inscriptions on articles sent to me are concerned, it matters not as I can have it done the first time some one of my Japanese friends is at my house.

I am pleased to inclose herewith one draft for $965.50 and another for $848.00, in all amounting to $1813.50, in payment of your invoices as rendered. When you send out corrected invoices, please receipt them, or if they have been mailed prior to receipt of this letter I will return the invoices to you for your receipt.

I am very much obliged to Mr. Ushikibe and the other gentlemen connected with your firm for the courteous attention paid to my purchases.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, I remain,

Yours truly,
Charles L Freer
