March 15th, 1899.

Mr. Frederick H. Eaton,
Vice President, American Car and Foundry Co., Empire Building, New York City.

My dear Mr.Eaton:-

I enclose herewith for your perusal letter received from Mr. Wdmund D. Smith, dated March 11th and my telegraphic reply thereto.

I suggest that you discuss the matter with Mr. Bixby before giving authority to Mr. Smith. You doubtless know Mr.Smith personally, but if you do not, Mr. Bixby can tell you all about him. I have known him for a number of years and have full confidence in his ability to accomplish whatever he says he can.

Yours very truly,
Charles L Freer
