Mr. Theo N. Ely
Chief of Motive Power, Penn'a R.R.
Broad Street Station
Philadelphia, Pa.

My dear Mr. Ely:
Mr. William F Jarvis of this city, an old time friend of mine, is in New York engaged in making tests of an electrical invention, which promises to be of great value in the operation of railroads. The testing is now being conducted at Columbia College, but it is Mr. Jarvis' intention to remove his place of operation to some building down town near Trinity Church, in order that a few gentlemen with offices in that vicinity may have a convenient place to privately witness the demonstration.
I have asked Mr. Jarvis to communicate with you either personally or by letter, and to invite you when you are in New York, to step into his down town place, when it is established, and to show you what he has.
You will find Mr. Jarvis a very pleasant gentleman and I am sure you will not regret any time you may spend with him and his apparatus.
Yours very truly,
Charles L. Freer
