My trip abroad last summer proved very enjoyable, and braced up my weakened muscles immensely. We found the weather during the summer throughout Italy exceptionally agreeable, and that London in August was attractive.

I saw Mr. Whistler there, and we spend several days together very delightfully.

I brought home with me one of his fine Nocturns, which I hope to have the pleasure of showing you some day. By the way, did you have a chance to see the frame which Stanford White designed for your painting which I purchased last spring? If so how did you like it? The picture is now here and it is really wonderful. It's new printing is so much better than the old, and I prize it as one of my finest possessions.

I expect to be in New York two or three times during the [[?]] next winter, and I shall write or wire you to find out if you see Mr. Scarboro, and hope both the pleasure of seeing you chatting over matters of mutual interest.

Wishing you and your family the best of all high things,
I am,
Affectionately,
Charles L. Freer
