Dear Mr. Dickerson:–

Your favor of the 12th inst. came to hand this morning, and I appreciate very much your kind invitation to visit you for a few days' shooting. Unfortunately, for me, I cannot shoot, having never killed game of any kind. However, I enjoy seeing others do it and I think the working of game dogs one of the interesting exercises I know of. Perhaps sometime in the future I can visit yourself and Mrs. Dickerson at Pine Lodge, and if the opportunity does come, I shall, of course, write in advance and find out if a date can be arranged mutually convenient, but if Fortune ever favors me in the direction, I am sure it would be sometime considerably in the future, because for some months to come I shall be prevented from making a Southern trip by local demands on my time.

I am sorry that you omit from your letter all reference to your health. Won't you let me know how you are. I thought when I saw you last in New York you looked much better than you did prior to your European trip.
