Colonel,
I have the honor to state in reply to your communication of the 29th inst directing a report of the number of officers whose regiments have been ordered to be mustered out of the service that there are none of that class on duty in this Dist. The 8th Me. Regt was mustered out of the service two or three weeks ago, and at their request, seven (7) officers were retained in the service by a telegraphic order from the Secy of War. My Report of Officers &c for the current month will inform you of their rank and duty.
I am, Colonel,
Very respectfully
your obedient servant
