To Rent of his Farm near York Town Va called "Temple Farm for the year 1865 & 6. containing 475 A @ $4 per Acre being the same charged by the goverment. to the Freedmen on said land $1.900
To pro rata allowance on the same from the 20th day of May 1865 the date of my amnesty oath as per order of the President. $1.660
To April 1st 1866 making 10 months & Ten days.

Dr Sir I have made out the above account as near with your instructions as I can the above account I consider reasonable as it includes the Mill and a large orchard on the farm, which has been in the occupancy of the goverment for the last four years, during which time all my timber has been destroyed, houses gone, enclosures destroyed, and I should think at least 1000 yards of Fortifications thrown up on said farm. My very yard was taken for a slaughter pen for the army, and my farm grased by large quantity of stock for the Army. - 

I hope you will approve the account as I much need the money.
