Bureau R.F. and A.L. Hd Qrs Asst Comr, Va Richmond Va, 7th Aug 1866. Respectfully returned to Maj. Genl. O. O. Howard Commissioner — with the information that the case within referred to, was, an affidavit of Johnson's that he had deposited in the hands of Genl. E.A. Wild the sum of $300 to be deposited in the "Norfolk Savings Bank", that [[stamp]] STATE OF VIRGINIA BUREAU OF R. F. & A. L. RECD. HD. QRS. ASST COMMISSIONER AUG 18 1866 [[/stamp]] he had never received a Bank book or receipt for the same, although he had repeatedly asked for them. Alfred H. Terry Maj. Genl & Asst Comr E & M 2d.V.332.
