Bureau of Refugees Freedmen & AL Head Qrs Asst Comr State of Va Richmond Va Aug 17th 1866 Respectfully referred to Capt John O. Dwyer Asst Supt. Carolina Co. who will visit the place of Mr. O.D. Harris and ascertain the prospects of establishing a good school there. By order of Maj Genl J M Schofield James Bates A.A.A.G. E & M 2.V.359. Office Asst Supt Bureau RF and AL Caroline Co. Va. Augt 21st 1866 Respectfully returned to Maj Genl J.M. Schofield Asst Com'r State of Va with the following report. In accordance with instructions I visited the place of Mr. O.D. Harris. I think that the prospects of establishing a school there are good. Already about 90 names are entered for a Sunday school, and some sixty, will attend Day school. Mr O.D. over Harris seems to be very energetic, and deeply interested in the improvement of the Freedmen.
