Circular Letter.

As many applications for transportation are received at these Head Quarters, without sufficiently detailed statements of the facts in each case. I am directed by the Commissioner to request, that Asst. Commissioners and other officers of the Bureau will endeavour to have all papers of this class, passing through their office, conform as nearly as possible to the following suggestions.

1st The names and number of persons to be transported, or the name of the headman, of each family, or party, with the number of the latter, and the sex and class (Refugees or Freedpeople) to which they belong will be stated.

2nd Transportation will only be requested from and to, the nearest Railway Station or Steamboat Landing to the starting point and place of destination.

3rd When children are to be transported the age and sex of those of twelve years and over should be stated as full fare is charged: and the age only of those from four to eleven, (inclusive) for whom half fare will be charged. Children under four years will not be mentioned, no charge
