Levy of Albermale [[Albemarle]] County Va and demand to see the Horse, To which I have alluded Consequently, I demand of Hooper, with whoom I was acquainted by what orthority vestid this demand, he told me he was orthorised, To take United States property, where it was in the possession of anybody, who did not have the orthority vested in Him the Sherriff of Appomattox City Va. I said all I could to retain the Horse for Henry Vinable and propose to see Mr Hise on monday following, to get the orthority that I might hold for Henry Vinable a sunerdy gift in and old wagon the wheels cut as to spokes? - all I could say or do peacibly, done, no good. I consulted with Henry Vinable & we felt ourselves powerless & the Provost marshall desided he could not go out of Buckingham Cty to Albermale, Mr John O Lewis. I think is & was the man that took possession of the Horse by the consent of Mr J.B. Hooper and he is carring this mail from New Canton to B. C. H. Va
