I have the honor to state, that I am unable to clearly understand, from endorsement of July 12th, on my letter of the 10th inst., whether I shall be authorized to furnish parties who have received transportation to Boston or elsewhere North, with the means of getting, with their baggage, from Hampton, the usual rendezvous, to the Baltimore wharf, a distance of 2 1/2 miles.
 
Many young girls, and women with babies, are sent whom it is just and reasonable to provide with means of getting to the boat, and who otherwise would not go.
