The Records of this office consist of - Book of Letters Sent, Endorsements and Memoranda somewhat irregularly kept, Letters Received, Land Book which does not show the status of Bureau lands, nor the action of the Bureau with reference to them; Record of all financial transactions, Orders and Circulars are entered in a book in the order of their receipt. The files of this office were partially consumed by fire on July 20th and Lieut. Sherwood reports that many valuable papers were thus lost. No Station Book has been opened for which there is no excuse as the attention of Lieut. Sherwood has more than once been directed to it. He complained of want of suitable books wherein to make his entries, and has been fully supplied. 

Each office in this Sub Dist. is furnished with a Bureau Manual
There is a general and hearty disposition to keep creditable office records. In some cases there has been a slowness to open a Station Book. I think that record important as it may be of consequence hereafter in
