Sir
I respectfully ask the restoration to Mrs Mary Smith of a certain tract of land in Loudoun County Virginia, containing 172 acres more or less, which has been proceeded against in the U.S. District for Eastern Virginia, with a view to its confiscation as the property of James W. N. Smith. It will appear by the official certificate of the Clerk of the Court County of Loudoun herewith filed, that the title to this property is vested in the said Mary Smith, that it descended to her more than twenty years ago by will, that ever since been owned by her. There is no land in Loudoun assessed to or named by the said Jas. W. N. Smith. The certificate of the said J. W. N. Smith & also an affidavit that he does not come within any of the exceptions of the President's Proclamation of May 1865, are also filed.

Charles B. Ball
for Mrs Mary Smith.
