I have the honor respectfully to report that yesterday, in compliance with instructions, I visited the County Jail of Henrico. In it I found about twenty white, & colored prisoners. Some undergoing sentences, others waiting trial. The general appearance of the Jail is clean and well ventilated, and the prisoners seem satisfied with their treatment. As a rule the prisoners are badly in want of clothing. The following and the most prominent cases of interest now in Jail.
"James Powell" col'd has been in confinement about 9 months. He was arrested 25th April 1866 and sent to the Jail in July 1866 on the charge of "Felony". upon the case
