I further add that I have been in constant communication with the Inspector of the Bureau Dist. Va. who in three rounds inspected the various Hospitals and have made immediate inspections where there seemed any necessity for it.

I have also, been in communication with the Superintendants of the various Districts, in regard to the Hospitals in their Districts, which are in a measure under their direction and have made as prompt inspections as possible of all things seeming to require it.

In these circumstances I have applied for and received orders from your Office to inspect and have received orders to do so in other cases where it was judged necessary.

I think I may properly, add, to this report, the following statement, viz:

The duties of my office are very considerable, and so continuous as to make it difficult for me to be about any length of time without inconvenience to the Public Service, as there is no Medical Officer to act in my place. I have
