Richmond, Va March 9th 1867
General Schofield

Dear, Sir -
I have endeavored, in vain, to effect an interview in person, or by letter, with Col. Barry Clerk of U.S. Circuit Court, in order to obtain his certificate, that my house and lot at West Point Va is not libelled. I have explained to you the difficulties, which I hope you will appreciate, namely, his continued absence from the office in this city, and the uncertainty of learning his whereabouts.

Major Butts has arranged all the remaining papers and only awaits said certificate in order to forward them to you. If you can hasten the procurement of said certificate, you will greatly oblige

Your Ovt Servant
P. P. Duval M.D.

The property is located at West, Point - King Wm County Va
