Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands,
Headquarters, Sub-District New Kent and Charles City Counties, Va.
New Kent C. H., Va., March 11th 1867.

Gen. S.C. Armstrong:
Supt. 5th Dist. Va
Fort Monroe Va.

Sir,
I have the honor to report that Robert Iverson, a freedman, aged about seventeen years, who belongs in Middlesex Co. Va., is in this county (New Kent) in charge of Pleasant Tompkins, freedman, who asks that this Bureau relieve him of Robert's maintenance; he (Robert) being afflicted with Insanity.

As the boy is a burden to Tompkins I would ask that prompt action be taken in the case.

Very Respectfully
Your Ob't. Serv't.
A.M. Brooks.
Capt., Asst. Supt.
