General.
In compliance with a request from your Office, I have the honor of presenting in reply to the same the data which follow viz:-

Number of freed-men and women treated during month of April 1867. by Medical Officers Bureau Dist. Va. 37,44
Number remaining under treatment at close of mo.  14,40
Number remaining under treatment at close of month March 15,72

Thus showing that we commenced the month of May, with one hundred and thirty two (132.) less in number under treatment than at the commencement of the previous month. 

A larger number of persons were treated during the month of April than during the month of March, this was owing to the fact that the means of many who were self supporting previously in sickness, as well as health became exhausted during the winter, and this spring, a
