The total number remaining Sept. 30th 1867 was. 1185.

Died during month Oct. 48.
Transferred. during month Oct. 39.

Thus showing a decrease of 417 since last report. This great reduction is accounted for by the closing of seven Hospitals in the state, and the transfer of a majority of the patients to the care of the civil authorities. Only those who could not be otherwise provided for, were transferred to Richmond and Hampton Hospitals. -
