I respectfully solicit the favor of a free pass for my brother. Jacob Rammel. and wife from Matthews County Court House Virginia to Philadelphia, and assign the following reasons therefor

My brother who removed from this State to Va about the year 1858. and who retained his Strong northern Sentiments at the opening of the War. Was Soon Sought out by rebel emissaries and Mercilessly conscripted into the rebel army. from which, however he escaped at the first opportunity before firing a shot in the unholy cause. and arrived safe in this city, where his family, through the kindness of our Naval officers, where enabled sometime after, to join him. They were unable to bring their goods. of these of course, they were soon despoiled. As Soon as actual hostilities ceased brother thinking that peace and good order would
