General:
Some time since we addressed you a communication relative to the Petition of Thomas Hume and others for the restoration of their half of the Chesapeake College property, run here by the Freedmen's Bureau. To this communication we have received no reply. As the Petitioners have complied with every requirement of the law they desire to have their property restored to them, or a declaration of the reasons of the refusal. They have removed every known impediment, and can, and will, remove every other legally existing. If there is any valid obstruction to the recovery of the property they very earnestly desire to the informed of it, and if there is none, they may respectfully submit
