 - intend to enlarge their Poor House and will then be able to accomodate all that may be sent to them, - support the same as in Stafford County -

Spottsylvania County has a Poor House but has no Superintendent, and the House is occupied, the County can not get possession of it until December 1st 1867, at which time a person will be employed to take charge of the House, and will receive such indigent persons as are chargeable to the County. The County can now receive five or six, but they will have very poor accomodations, and nothing but rations of corn meal issued to them. 

The City of Fredericksburg takes care of its own poor separate from the County. The Overseers of the poor reported that they were unable to provide for the indigent colored people for much of means. I instructed the Council to furnish means, they have appealed to General Scholfield stating that they are not able to provide for the indigent colored people.

There are no indigent colored persons in my Division now in
