I have the honor to report, that at the October session of our County Court Wm. G. Tallaiferro was tried for the killing of James Hudson, or Hutchison, and found Not Guilty, and discharged. In my previous report I gave you the substance of the testimony. There was nothing new introduced.

The principal witness for the prosecution was Lewis Buckner Col'd. who swore he thought there was no intention to seriously injure Hudson; that there was no malice between the parties, and no anger until Hudson charged Tallaiferro with trying to cheat &c, &c. Lewis Buckner was a very strong witness for the defence.

Eli Lee a Col'd boy was also examined - His testimony was that after Hudson was struck, he drove his ox cart away,- that Hudson went to a swamp and washed his face and then lay down on the side of the road while the boy drove the cart to the Mill for some meal, and that on his return from the Mill Hudson got into the cart and went home with him, that Hudson was crying all the time 

Doctor Gouldin who examined the deceased after death testified - that he was called on to see the deceased about 9 oclock the following morning, that when he saw him he was in a comatose state - pulse 140 - was of the
