Farmville Va Nov. 18. 1867

Bv't. Lieut. Col. J.J. De Lamater U.S.A.
Surg-in-Chf. 1st Mil. Distc't,

Sir,
I had expected to "close up" to day & would leave done so had it not been for the fact that the "Overseers of the Poor" of this County would not receive their paupers. According to instructions received from Col. Jordan, I sent them to waggons, early yesterday morning and this morning they came back as the Supt. of P. House would not admit them. It will be necessary to retain them until I receive further instructions from him. (Col. J.). He informs me that he communicated the facts to Gen'l. Brown this A.M.

Very Respectfully,
Your Ob't. Serv't,
Jos. Jorgenson
A.A. Surg. U.S.A
