he says "I did beat him with a stick & I got the stick laying over the door." That is all I know about it.
Q. What day of the month did this affair occur?
A. I can't tell it was in August.
Q. Do you know what the trouble was about.
A. I do not.
Q. Did you ever hear Mr. Larenby threaten to kill Sam
A. Not more than what was in the fight. You have got it down there.
Q. Is Sam a peaceable well disposed boy?
A. He always has been.
Q. Did you ever hear Mr. L say anything about the fight after the trial?
A. I do not know that I did. I think that he said what first caused it, this boy said something to your sister - that is about all I know about it.
Q. Is Mr. L. a peaceable man?
A. Yes Sir. I never knew nothing amiss of him before this Wednesday. I was 300 yds when I first heard the fracas, then I ran upon the hill about one hundred yards.
Q. Where did you help move him - Larenby
A. Two days after the fracas, I moved him out of one room into another.
Q. Did he appear sensible to you
A. Yes Sir.
