Sir: There is at my house a freed-woman named Amanda Jones, at present a widow with four children dependent on her labor for support. She has also a daughter nearly grown, named Julia, who, as I have learned, was bound by the Bureau to Mrs Madison Crocket of Wytheville Va., some months ago, without the knowledge or consent of the mother (her place of residence not being known). She is now very anxious to have this daughter restored to her, that she may have her family all together, and under her own care. She has not
