Corporation of Lexington, County of Rockbridge, State of Va, to wit

Whereas Zilpha R. Harper, (Teacher) has this day made complaint on oath, before me Jacob M. Ruff Mayor for the Town of Lexington in s'd county that Robt Flewellen, B.F. Terry, Wm. P. Hardeman, & Wm. W. Wellborn, and others to her unknown, on the night of the 22nd present month, came to her school house and with loud noise, profane swearing did forceibly raise the window of the school room, and throw lighted matches therein, and further did draw a pistol & wantonly threaten to shoot some of the scholars.  These are therefore in the name of the Commonwealth to require you to bring them to the s'd Flewellin, Terry, Hardiman & Wellborn before me the Mayor of the corporation of Lexington, to answer said complaint.
