In compliance with your endorsement of this 10th  inst, on my application to send a few indigent colored people to Alexandria, where they can receive medical as well as other aid. I have this honor to make application for transportation for Mary Deskins, Freed woman, who is seventeen (17) years of age, and has one child in her arms, thirteen (13) months old, and is now six (6) months gone, for another. This woman has no husband or kin of any kind, in this country, with the exception of a grandfather who, is too old to be of any assistance to her, he, being scarcely able to support himself.
